Temporary Bridleway Closure

Exif_JPEG_PICTUREFor almost a year now you have been able to use a couple of new Bridleways on Longshaw, which have provided excellent links to the new routes across Froggat and Curbar. But we have been asked to let you know about a temporary closure of one of the Concessionary Bridleway routes at Longshaw.

More from the National Trust….

We are widening part of the middle drive route where it comes to the A625 above the Grouse Inn pub. The widening is to allow access for Timber wagons, but it will improve access for our farmer at hay making time etc, and long term give a wider route for shared use as a concessionary Bridleway.

We are thinning and removing a large number of more recently planted conifer trees, as part of a restoration plan for more natural  Wood pasture habitat that is hidden by the conifers.

Work will start on the 22nd June, not certain of timescale, but it may take around a month to do.

The route will be closed to Horses and Bikes during weekdays, and open at weekends – but there may be restricted width in places.

Access to walkers remains open via a parallel marked route – it winds through trees etc. and isn’t suitable for horses, or bikes.

Later on in the year starting the beginning of August, the route will be disrupted again as timber is harvested and extracted.

I will get in touch again when the track work is finished, and for any other closures related to the timber harvesting.
