Giving a Little Bit Back – The Stanage Sticker
Ride Sheffield have been heavily involved over the last few years in the Stanage Forum Steering group which helps the Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) to manage Stanage North Lees Estate. In common with the rest of the public sector, the PDNPA has seen its central government grant cut by nearly 40% in the last few years. Inevitably, this has forced the authority to rethink how it funds the management of crucial landscape such as Stanage and the surrounding moors.
Thankfully, the good folk on the Stanage Forum have resisted the pressure to install and rigidly enforce pay and display machines at Stanage and have instead opted for voluntary payments from those who regularly enjoy this wonderful wilderness. The Stanage Sticker is now available at the ludicrously low figure of £15/year for which you’ll be able to park for free at the three Stanage car parks and get a discount at the North Lees campsite of 50p/night. More importantly, your money is ring-fenced and can only be used to look after Stanage.
So, if you bike, climb or walk at Stanage North Lees, put your hand in your pocket and give a little back.
