Exploring the impact of Public Rights of Way surface management on mountain biker experiences

Local rider, racer and all round good sort Emma Peasland is currently writing her dissertation for the MSc Environmental Management course at Sheffield Hallam University. She is keen to get as many responses to her survey as possible. This is good for the quality of the research, but it is also provide an interesting bit of research that will be of use to all of us.

The research is exploring how surface management on public rights of way affects the experiences mountain bikers have riding them. There are two steps to assessing this. Firstly, the questionnaire aims to discover why people take part in mountain biking, what their trail preferences are and how you get information about where to ride and trail conditions.

The second part will explore what people think of trail management and how it affects their mountain biking experience through some group discussions. These will be held in Sheffield in early November. If you’d like to share your views and take part in these discussions please complete the questionnaire and leave your email address at the end.
