Nutcracker XC MTB Race at Parkwood Springs
While we all know that Sheffield mountain biking is going from strength to strength at the moment, a sure sign of a vibrant scene is lots racing going on. The ever popular Steel City Downhill had its third race this year, Stilettos on Wheels had its second race at Rother Valley Country Park and Midlands XC have been using the excellent course at Birchall to the south of Sheffield.
But now we finally have an XC race that is a little closer to home; and you dont get much closer to the centre of town than Parkwood Springs! Organised as part of the excellent Altura Nutcracker MTB series, it should be a great day out. If you don’t fancy racing, they are still looking for marshalls too.
More information below from Parkwood Godfather Dan Cook…..
Parkwood Springs is hosting the next round of the Altura Nutcracker mountain bike series. This XC event will use the main red route plus open up a couple of additional natural routes on the site. Finances from this event will go on to support the continued development at Parkwood. Sheffield City Council and Nutcracker are also looking at the use of the site from a long term point of view – so there can be events in future years too.
Show your support for the development of the site by either racing or marshalling.
To race, go to the Nutcracker website. Note that most of the previous events have had even higher numbers than previous years, so you could be leaving it to chance by entering on the day.
To be a hero for the day and marshall (we need 20 at least please) contact dan.cook@ctc.org.uk who is leading on the local delivery of this for the benefit of Parkwood. Note that marshalls (sorry hero’s) get food for the day and a t-shirt thrown in, as well as extensive use of a whistle!
