Lady Cannings Felling Work
While Lady Cannings is a fantastic place to ride you bike, it is also still a working woodland. There have been several phases of logging over the past few years, some of it for ecological reasons to increase the biodiversity, some to get rid of unstable timber and some of it for commercial use (funds from which go to supporting ancient woodland in other parts of the city)
The next couple of phases of trail work in the woods will be completed once the next phase of felling is done. There are also other plans for the woods, including a circuit for horse riders. But the first phase of the felling is about to start in the next week.
With quite a substantial amount of timber to be pulled out of the top end of the woods and to cause minimal disruption to the rest of the tracks in the woods, an extraction route in to be constructed from Ringinglow Road to just above the start for the trail. During this time there may be some disruption to the trail and potential closures too (the aim is to keep it open on a weekend). we were not expecting any impact on the trail, but to ensure that there is a substantial windblown buffer, we may experience a bit of encroachment during construction
We apologise for any inconvenience, but please respect the diversion and closure signs. Any damage to the trail will be returned to its original state.
We keep you updated on here, Facebook and Twitter of any further developments
