We will be heading up to Lady Cannings tomorrow evening (Monday 20th June) to carry out a little bit of routine maintenance, open up a couple of the full drains and cute back the overhanging branches.
Its all pretty straightforward, low key work, but all help is appreciated, we will be meeting in the car park at 6pm and will be up there for 2-3 hrs before going for a quick pint in the Norfolk Arms. We will be bringing tools, but if you have a spade or a wheelbarrow, it would be worth bringing one along. You may also want to stick some midge repellant in your bag too!
This also means that the trail will be closed from 6pm onwards tomorrow night

Monday 20th June – 6pm – Lady Cannings
This month for our trail day we will be teaming up with Sheffield Wildlife Trust to help with some of their work on Blacka.
You may have been thinking that you have missed your chance to race at Peaty’s Steel City DH for another year. With some categories oversubscribed by four times the amount of places that were available you would be pretty lucky to get into the event. But this year we are able to offer three people the chance to get a place in the race after the ballot.
For this months trail days we will be doing things a little differently. Now that everywhere is drying out nicely, we can turn our attention to fine tuning! To make sure that the trails in Greno are running sweetly for Peaty’s Steel City DH, we will be holding a couple of evening trail sessions.
This months trail day will be in Lady Cannings on Sunday the 6th of March. After the temporary closures of the trail because of the logging work and then due to the record levels of rain this winter, we are just about ready to re open the trail. All that is needed is to give the trail a bit of a tidy up and it will be ready to go. So on Sunday we will be after people to come along and move the logs off the trail, clear up the windblown debris and to make sure the trail corridor is still looking good and then it will be all sweet and ready to take riders again.
Its been a tough first year for Blue Steel, Lady Canning’s first trail. After a cracking start of warm summer nights and multiple laps in a lush (and midge filled wood) followed by crisp and dry night laps, or as a nice dry option as the winter crept onwards. Or even just a chance to find (and refine) your flow.
This months trail day will be in Greno Woods on Saturday the 6th. While most of the trails are running pretty well at the moment, there are a few areas that could do with a little tlc to improve drainage etc. We are still waiting on the contractors who did the felling to tidy up the last bit of their work, but as it is too wet for machinery to go in there currently we are just going to have to wait. So there may well be another Greno Trail Day soon. As well as a couple of evening in the run up to the soon to be announced Peaty’s Steel City DH.
Last Friday on a beautifully sunny lunch break, we took a trip up to Lady Cannings for a quick catch up with Bike Track and Jon Dallow.
With the wettest month on record now behind us, we thought it would be good to get out and give the trails a little tlc. Our work this month is pretty much dictated by the weather, as we are wing for the ground to settle before the contractors can neater up the work in Greno and in Lady Cannings we are waiting for the water table to drop as well as the new start to be constructed. So we will see work up at Greno in the next couple of months.
