Ride Sheffield have been working very closely with Peak District MTB to address the issue of the “bog of doom” on Cut Gate. Mountain bikers seem to get most of the blame for trail erosion, perhaps somewhat unfairly. We’re keen to show that we want to act responsibly, hence leading the conversation. Cutgate crosses a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) so we are wanting to start a conversation about the continued conservation of 8,000 years of moorland life and build on best practise in upland path management.

We’ve worked together, supported by the Peak District National Park, Sheffield City Council, Moors for the Future, The Outdoor City, Keeper of the Peak and with support from 18 Bikes and Bike Garage, to produce ‘Cut Gate Path: Collaboration, Consideration, Conservation, Action?’ a call to debate the future of Cut Gate amongst the various groups who use it. Sometimes things don’t always go to plan! Having Lady Cannings back up and running before Christmas would appear to be one of those things I’m afraid. Sorry!
Its our winter social next Monday the 21st of November, so we thought it was about time to fill you in on a few of the key details for the night. It will be out 6th winter social and traditionally we have always held it in the Lescar, but it has seemed a bit too cramped for the past couple of years, so we will be holding this years event at
While we have know about the planned felling works in Lady Cannings for a while, we have only just received info on when this is going to be.
After a great summers riding, it is time to start looking towards making sure things are looking in good shape moving into winter, so we are back into trail day season. we will be starting off up at Lady Cannings this Saturday the 8th at 10am

With this seasons fashions starting off with an attractive golden orangey brown look, eventually letting the browns, blacks and greys have their moment in (out) of the sun. So we thought it was probably best that we re commence with our trail days to make sure that the trail keep running sweetly and as sustainably as possible.
