Ride Sheffield have been heavily involved over the last few years in the Stanage Forum Steering group which helps the Peak District National Park Authority (PDNPA) to manage Stanage North Lees Estate. In common with the rest of the public sector, the PDNPA has seen its central government grant cut by nearly 40% in the last few years. Inevitably, this has forced the authority to rethink how it funds the management of crucial landscape such as Stanage and the surrounding moors. (more…)

Nick Copestake on the old packhorse route Stanage The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) is calling on climbers, mountain bikers, walkers and everybody with a love for Stanage Edge, Derbyshire, to sign this petition to help safeguard its future.
Stanage is the most popular crag in Britain – maybe in the world – and a classic walking destination for millions of people who visit the Peak District every year. It’s also home to one of the best mountain bike descents in the area following the ancient packhorse route through the plantation.
