  • Sheffield Cycle Jumble – Saturday 19th October

Sheffield Bike Jumble is a bi-annual event that gives you the chance to make a bit of money from the kit you don’t need any more, or pick up some of those essentials on the cheap. It’s on this Saturday at St. Mary Church. If you are interested in a table, there are still a couple left, so get in touch with Mark on 07595 666370 if you are interested.

  • Mountain Biking 101 at Thornbridge Hall

imagesCAE64SSGWe are big fans of A Line Coaching over here at Ride Sheffield and not just because of the expertise that they have leant to our trail design. • Coffee and Cake in Ecclesall Woods

3557240_08a0ff0eOne of mountain biking’s undeniable joys is the mid or post ride cake stop; and while we are well served further out in the Peak and in town, there are not too many places to stop on the way back into Sheffield from those more local rides.

But for those folks who end travel back in via Ecclesall Woods, there is now more than  just ancient woodland to keep you happy. At the rather lovely JG Graves Woodland Discovery Centre they are now serving fresh coffee and home-made cakes on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. With good covered and open outdoor seating, it a good place to round off the ride in a relaxed setting.

  • Digging Dates for your Diary

547053_255934957830842_100002430187541_553432_1742469406_nIn the past we have been a bit short notice on our digging days, so from now on we will try to get dates in on a quarterly basis.

We also want to be clear on what we do too. So if you seen that we are doing a Dig Day, that means we are working on bike specific trails. That will often mean more technical work and are a good way to learn your craft in trail work. These will usually be on the second saturday of the month. If we are doing a Trail Day that means we will be working on rights of way. This work may be done solely by ourselves or in partnership with the Wildlife Trust, Eastern Moors Partnership, SCC etc. (more…)

  • Good Things In Greno

Greno3Bike Track and Aline Coaching have been working hard in Greno all week and will be up there doing the same next week too. It’s all looking amazing, so we thought we would give you a sneak peek of what has been done so far.

But most importantly is that the work may look finished, but it is all a little soft and needs bedding properly before we ride it. Not only that but some trails are totally unfinished and you may find big holes, soft ground, big diggers and people wielding chainsaws where you would not normally expect to find them. So for your safety please give Greno a miss for the next couple of weeks. We will post up when it’s all clear to go and flow your way through these rad trails (more…)

  • Aline Mountain Bike Coaching

drop-480x400With the summer riding season in full swing, the sun shining on most days and trails in the best condition they have been in for a couple of years, you may still find yourself getting a little frustrated with your riding. Dry trails speed your riding up, trails suddenly feel looser, turns get harder to hit right and even those sections you promised yourself you would clean “once it dries out” still seem a little out of your grasp! • AGM: Update

CIMG5249While we have always had a big meeting in the run up to Christmas, that serves as a bit of a social and quiz; as well as us letting you know what has been going on and giving you a chance to chat to people from the SCC ROW team, Eastern Moors, Wildlife Trust etc. We have also held an AGM for the past two years ever since we became a constitutionalised organisation. While this has always been a more low key event, we thought that as there is a lot more going on with Ride Sheffield we would do a little more this year. (more…)
