As well as awesome trails and a great cycling community, Sheffield also has some pretty impressive research going on as well too. Sheffield Hallam’s Centre of Sports Engineering Research are looking for volunteers to take part in a study on body size. It does not take much time and you will get some pretty cool information about yourself at the end of it. For more information read on….. (more…)

Lady Cannings Trail Evening
We will be heading up to Lady Cannings tomorrow evening (Monday 20th June) to carry out a little bit of routine maintenance, open up a couple of the full drains and cute back the overhanging branches. Its all pretty straightforward, low key work, but all help is appreciated, we will be meeting in the car park at 6pm and will be up there for 2-3 hrs before going for a quick pint in the Norfolk Arms. We will be bringing tools, but if you have a spade or a wheelbarrow, it would be worth bringing one along. You may also want to stick some midge repellant in your bag too!
This also means that the trail will be closed from 6pm onwards tomorrow night

Nutcracker Altura XC Race at Parkwood Springs
The Nutcracker team have been bringing their excellent brand of xc racing to Parkwood Springs for the past 3 years; and their forth visit is just round the corner, next Sunday the 26th of Juneit is an excellent race series, with the organisers managing the difficult task of making races that are fun and entertaining for all racers, pleasing beginners and elite athletes alike.
If you haven’t raced before, its a great change to give it a try in a familiar place and on a fun course, if not chances are you will know someone racing so why not come along and encourage/heckle them around the course (it is particularly spectator friendly, with good access points meaning you can see a lot of different spots per lap) (more…)

March Trail Day – Lady Cannings
This months trail day will be in Lady Cannings on Sunday the 6th of March. After the temporary closures of the trail because of the logging work and then due to the record levels of rain this winter, we are just about ready to re open the trail. All that is needed is to give the trail a bit of a tidy up and it will be ready to go. So on Sunday we will be after people to come along and move the logs off the trail, clear up the windblown debris and to make sure the trail corridor is still looking good and then it will be all sweet and ready to take riders again. The trail will be formally checked on Monday, so please do not ride it until Monday evening. But beyond that enjoy getting reacquainted. (more…)
