Peaty’s Steel City DH 2016

Its back, bigger better and quite possibly more baltic than ever before!

This amazing event sees 300 racers and over 3000 spectators gather in Grenoside woods each year, attracting mountain bike enthusiasts from across the country. The sixth Steel City Downhill, will be bigger and better than ever before. It’s also extra special as it’s Peaty’s last season before his retirement from competing in World Cups.

From 11am, riders will set off from the start ramp at 30-second intervals, flying down the trail at high speeds that belie the gradient of the hill, with a second opportunity to beat their time on another run in the afternoon. With entrants ranging from kids to Grannies, World Cup racers to first time racers, and with both male and female categories, the event really is one of a kind.

To celebrate Peaty’s many years dedicated to mountain biking, this year the organisers are going all out with food and drink stalls (including Street Food Chef, Nether Edge Pizza Co., Bradfield Brewery, Whirlow Hall Farm, Adventure Cafe and the Bean Rover) spread along the trail, as well as music and entertainment throughout the day. Being free of charge, anyone can turn up (But please use the official event car parking) – whether you’re a mountain bike enthusiast or just fancy trying Sheffield’s finest street food and a pint of beer in a great festival atmosphere that the whole family can enjoy.

The race is run as a not for profit event, with all funds raised from the race go directly back into the trails in Greno Woods and to support mountain bike projects around the city.
