Eastern Moors Trail Day – 11th April 2026

Our next session is a beginner friendly trail day working to repair and reinstate drainage on the bridleway at Barbrook – on Saturday 11th April.

New to trail repair? Here’s our beginner friendly session with guidance and explanation of what work we do to repair a trail and why – then we’ll crack on and get some drainage sorted on the bridleway at Barbrook.

Not a beginner? You’re more than welcome too!

  • The aim of the session is to improve the drainage on the main track, which is a bridleway and heavily used by horses, walkers and cyclists.
  • Work has been done on the track over the past few years, but some sections of the track are still waterlogged for months at a time.
  • Some areas will need to be filled in with local materials – natural and locally sourced
  • Although it’s nesting season, it is generally ok to work on the tracks as the birds are unlikely to nest in the area due to the high level of disturbance.
  • There is a chance that there may be adders; again, this is unlikely, but watch out for sticks that suddenly move away…
  • The majority of the work will be creating or clearing drains to allow the water to run off the track; this means that people are more likely to stay on the track.
  • There are some existing drains along the track; a lot of these have filled up either with mud or bracken, so need to be cleared out again.

Tools and material will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have favourites!
