  • Trail Maintainence Days in Greno

BemlzZhIIAAcxFJNow that the trails are drying out after a long wet winter, it’s time to get out and give them a little tlc and get them running sweet for the rest of the year.

We are going to start our program of trail work up in Greno, but we will also be doing some trail days on the Eastern Moors and Blacka as well as helping prep the ground up in Lady Canning’s too (but more on that another time).

  • Dig For Victory!

Hard at it on Devil's Elbow
Hard at it on Devil’s Elbow

Ride Sheffield was involved in two dig days on saturday 11 January. On Blackamoor, an enthusiastic team tackled the last few wet patches at the bottom of the Devil’s Elbow bridleway.  This section is now unrecognisable from the Somme-like mud bath of five years ago when bikes, riders, pedestrians and horses were known to sink into the mire and never return. • Parkwood Pud – Trail Day Saturday 14th December

ParkwoodThis coming Saturday the 14th of December we are going to be heading up to Parkwood Springs MTB circuit to give it a bit of an early Christmas present!

Bike Track are going to  be carrying out some routine maintainance over the next few weeks, so we don’t need to concern ourselves with the actual track itself. But we are going to do our best to give the site a good tidy up and along with the ranger service, we will also be helping plan some trees too. (more…)

  • Digging Dates for your Diary

547053_255934957830842_100002430187541_553432_1742469406_nIn the past we have been a bit short notice on our digging days, so from now on we will try to get dates in on a quarterly basis.

We also want to be clear on what we do too. So if you seen that we are doing a Dig Day, that means we are working on bike specific trails. That will often mean more technical work and are a good way to learn your craft in trail work. These will usually be on the second saturday of the month. If we are doing a Trail Day that means we will be working on rights of way. This work may be done solely by ourselves or in partnership with the Wildlife Trust, Eastern Moors Partnership, SCC etc. (more…)

  • Good Things In Greno

Greno3Bike Track and Aline Coaching have been working hard in Greno all week and will be up there doing the same next week too. It’s all looking amazing, so we thought we would give you a sneak peek of what has been done so far.

But most importantly is that the work may look finished, but it is all a little soft and needs bedding properly before we ride it. Not only that but some trails are totally unfinished and you may find big holes, soft ground, big diggers and people wielding chainsaws where you would not normally expect to find them. So for your safety please give Greno a miss for the next couple of weeks. We will post up when it’s all clear to go and flow your way through these rad trails (more…)

  • Repair Work On Jumbles Road And Houndkirk

The Rights of Way Team have been doing a bit of work up on Houndkirk and Jumbles Road over the past week or so, but before you panic, this is all very simple repair work, rather than full on resurfacing, with the main aim being to keep the standing water off the Byways. Here is the word direct from them… (more…)

  • Everything you wanted to know about Crowd Sourcing Lady Canning’s

Ten days ago we launched our crowd sourcing project to raise money to build trails in Lady Canning’s Plantation. It’s an excellent site, with great soil and located on the edge of the Peak Park (half of the woods are in the national park) but is a 4 mile traffic free ride from Hunters BarGreno Woods Mini DH

Since we launched the project we have been inundated with a couple of things; primarily money! Yes you have been amazing and we have been quite overwhelmed by the support and the good feeling in the Sheffield (and beyond) MTB community, with individuals giving anything from £5 to £100! It has meant that in a short amount of time we have raised just over £2000

The other thing we have had quite a few of is questions! So hopefully we can answer a few of them here….. (more…)
