Peaty’s Steel City Downhill
Last March Steel City Series put on their inaugural mountain bike race Peaty’s Steel City Downhill in Greno Woods; to raise awareness and money for the Wildlife Trusts Greno Woods appeal.
Fronted by former mountain bike World Champion and legend in the sport Steve Peat and attended by 160 competitors and over 500 spectators it was a popular and fantastic event

This year we are back with a bigger and better (and hopefully drier!) Event. The event on Saturday the 21st of April and will be on a new purpose built track that has been constructed as part of the development of the woods and should not only provide great fun for the riders, but provide a lot of entertainment for spectators too
As well as top level competition ranging from the professional riders such as Steve Peat, Sam Dale and Hannah Barnes we will have competitors as young as 10 racing as well
There will be catering with locally sourced food, Bradfield Brewery will be providing refreshments, Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative and JE James will be offering technical support for riders and we will also have stands from local groups such as the Wildlife Trust and Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team
The even has been generously supported by local businesses including 18 Bikes, The Bike Tree, Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative, Langsett Cycles, Just Riding Along, Big Stone, Crosstrax and Bradfield Brewery as well as national and international companies such as Santa Cruz Bicycles, Cotic Bikes, Five Ten, Polaris, Trail Addiction and Monster Energy; who have been generous in providing prizes for competitors and for the raffle as well
