  • Good Things In Greno

    Greno3Bike Track and Aline Coaching have been working hard in Greno all week and will be up there doing the same next week too. It’s all looking amazing, so we thought we would give you a sneak peek of what has been done so far.

    But most importantly is that the work may look finished, but it is all a little soft and needs bedding properly before we ride it. Not only that but some trails are totally unfinished and you may find big holes, soft ground, big diggers and people wielding chainsaws where you would not normally expect to find them. So for your safety please give Greno a miss for the next couple of weeks. We will post up when it’s all clear to go and flow your way through these rad trails (more…)

  • Greno Works – Keep an eye out and stay off the new cut please

    With funds raised from this years Steel City Downhill, Ride Sheffield has been working with Biketracks and the land owners Sheffield Wildlife Trust on the next phase of works at Greno Woods.

    It starts Monday 9th September for about 2 weeks. If we could ask you guys to be patient during the trail building and let your mates know as well. Please:

    – Don’t ride near the diggers

  • Tell the Peak Park – Stanage isn’t for sale!!

    The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) is calling on climbers, mountain bikers, walkers and everybody with a love for Stanage Edge, Derbyshire, to sign this petition to help safeguard its future.

    Stanage is the most popular crag in Britain – maybe in the world – and a classic walking destination for millions of people who visit the Peak District every year.  It’s also home to one of the best mountain bike descents in the area following the ancient packhorse route through the plantation.  However, decisions are being made that could change it significantly – and we need your help to state our case.   • Wigley Lane Flattened!

    Mountain bikers have been left furious once again after another Peak District trail is flattened in the name of ‘safety’. Wigley Lane runs from Longstone Edge to the village of Rowland and posed, until recently, a decent challenge. Now, exposed limestone bedrock has been covered with road-planings by Derbyshire County Council and technical singletrack has been converted into a flat, wide, all but uncontrollable descent.   • Eastern Moors’ new trail is a gem….

    Took a run down the newly opened Barbrook Valley bridleway on Big Moor recently and it’s well worth seeking out. While you’re not going to get an adrenaline fix, it is a window onto a part of the Peak with which many mountain bikers will be unfamiliar. The views are great, the wildlife’s spectacular and the trail’s ideal for first timers and the less confident. It’s also a brilliant way of accessing the White Peak. Keep your eyes peeled and you may be lucky enough to see red deer.

  • Ride Sheffield approach Derbyshire County Council again…

    So we’re heading back to DCC after their less than positive response to our first letter… Below is the second very nice approach from Ride Sheffield to try and get DCC to talk to us about works they plan to do. We’ll also look to try and get members who live in Derbyshire to support this by contacting their councilors if this one gets a similar response to last time!

Dry trails speed your riding up, trails suddenly feel looser, turns get harder to hit right and even those sections you promised yourself you would clean “once it dries out” still seem a little out of your grasp!
